The SOJHL was a Canadian Junior A hockey league operating from 1968 to 1977. The league initially existed as the Western Ontario Junior Hockey League, a league that played at the Junior B level until 1967-68. The WOJBHL petitioned the OHA to convert to a Junior A league, but was rejected, so it declared itself a renegade Junior A league for the 1968-69 season. After the top OHA Junior A teams left to form the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League, the WOJHL was invited back into the OHA and was granted Junior A status. It renamed itself to the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League.
