In order to keep Hockeydb.com as accurate as possible, the reporting of errors/omissions is encouraged. However, if we cannot easily verify the error you report, we will not make any changes to the database based solely on e-mail.
In order to maintain an accurate, fair, and unbiased source of information, all corrections to statistics that hockeydb.com is unable to verify must be submitted in writing along with appropriate documentation. For example, if you say that a player's statistics in the French Elite hockey league are missing, then please provide an independent source of French Elite Hockey League statistics for the season(s) in question.
Examples of independent sources are releases from the team, league, or independent publciation showing a full season of statistics for the team/league in question, or from a guide that lists the player's career statistics along with other players.
Examples of non-independent sources are documents created by a player, player agent, or documents created by a team media representative not affiliated with the team/league for which the error is reported (the latter is to prevent an error by a team's media department from being propogated). Although Eurohockey.net is a good starting reference for European statistics, their user-submitted data format makes it too easy for bad data to be entered, so this cannot be considered an official source.
Hockeydb.com compiles official statistics from many different leagues. From time to time a player may dispute the statistics compiled by the league, however, any such disputes must be taken up with the league, not with hockeydb.com. Although the leagues do make mistakes in their final official statistics (usually spelling player names incorrectly or swapping players with similar names -- hockeydb.com will correct such mistakes), the only nonobvious changes that hockeydb.com will make are those that are recognized by the league.
All submissions can be mailed to:

Hockeydb.com focuses on North American professional hockey player statistics. Because of this there are many leagues that hockeydb.com does not choose to include in their entirety. Many hockey leagues do not publish their statistics; most Canadian Tier II leagues, many CIAU conferences, and many non-Elite European league statistics are impossible to locate, especially in North America. We do not include leagues that do not traditionally develop players for the professional leagues, so unless those players eventually played professional hockey they will not appear.
Hockeydb.com strives to publish only accurate information. This means that all statistics that do appear come from league publications, or in the absence of such a publication, official team publications or other media sources to which official statistics were released. In rare cases, especially older leagues, official numbers were either not kept or are not available; in those cases the work of historians has filled in the gaps.
If you have a question about the source of a particular piece of information, please e-mail us and we will clarify our sources.
If you are affiliated with a hockey team, please remember that there are leagues that may not be included on hockeydb.com, so if there is a gap showing in a player's career it may be because he played in an obscure European league that we do not have information on yet. However, most North American statistics are 99.9% accurate and complete for the professional, major-junior, and NCAA Division I leagues. If you have any questions about a player's career please ask if you assume information is missing. Hockeydb.com should not be used in a way that would place legal liability on hockeydb.com, since it is obviously impossible to obtain and report on every piece of information about every single hockey player.
