The Pacific Hockey League was a semi-professional hockey league that operated for a single season, 1994-95. It grew out of both the Pacific Southwest Hockey League, a similar league based primarily in Fresno, and the Pacific Northwest Hockey League, primarily featuring two teams from Alaska. It billed itself as an upgrade in organization from those prior leagues (which were more like strong senior leagues)
The six teams in the league were broken into two divisions: Pacific Southwest Division, featuring the Fresno Falcons, California Hawks, and the Los Angeles Bandits, and the Northwest Division, featuring the Anchorage Aces, Alaska Gold Kings, and Vancouver (Washington) Thunderbirds (playing out of Seattle). Each team was scheduled to play 18 games, with the exception of Vancouver, which was scheduled to play 10 games.
The Fresno Falcons played some games against teams in the Sunshine Hockey League this season, taking a road trip to Florida. Each Florida team was ... The Anchorage Aces played other mens' senior teams from across the country, such as the Warroad Lakers or the Chicago Chargers.
The following season, the Fresno Falcons, Anchorage Aces and Alaska Gold Kings became founding members of the West Coast Hockey League. The Los Angeles Bandits joined the short-lived North American League.
