Owen Sound Downtowners Statistics and History
The Owen Sound Downtowners were a Senior hockey team playing in the Senior A OHA division of the OHA for the 1972-73 season.
The team had been known as the Owen Sound Cresents for the prior three seasons. Although the team was known as a Community Sponsored hockey team, in 1972-73 Eddie Sargent of Owen Sound became the biggest sponsor. Sargent was a local politician who also owned the Downtowner hotel in Owen Sound. Sargent prompted the team to switch names.
