Regina Capitals Statistics and History [1945-1951 WCSHL]
The Regina Capitals were a Senior Amateur hockey team based in Regina, SASK playing in the Western Canada Senior Hockey League from 1945 to 1951. The team played in the Regina Arena.
In their final season, due to finanical woes brought on by decreased attendance, the Capitals stopped paying their players halfway through the season, instead adopting a cooperative model where the players would share in any profits at the end of the year. The players supported this arrangement, even though about half of them held jobs beyond playing hockey, and relied solely on the hockey-related money for income.
