Is it just me, or is this set a bunt instead of a home run?
I'm a Springfield Falcons fan, so I thumbed through the set to see which Falcons were in it. Keep in mind that the Falcons switched affiliates, with last year's (Phoenix) players going to Utah.
Well, surprise surprise, since ITG released the set so early, the players are featured with last year's teams. So the Falcons pictured -- Igor Knyazev, David LeNeveu, Kiel McLeod, Jean-Marc Pelletier, Martin Podlesak, Fredrik Sjostrom -- are not with the team this year.
Same goes for the junior players. Although more are with the same team this year, many are in the minor pro leagues.
Why include FOUR Alexander Ovechkin cards? The photos look like they were taken in a 5-minute time span of each other. Sometimes, less is more.
I did like the concept of picturing the old-time players in their junior uniforms, but many of the photos aren't that great, and I question whether some are even genuine (Patrick Roy, for example, seems to be in an airbrushed Montreal uniform). Does anyone mean to tell me that they couldn't get a better picture of Mario Lemieux in a Laval uniform?
The idea of this set was pretty good, but it seems just a little too rushed to be a real winner.
