View Full Version : Legitimate Hockey Addresses

After reading the idiotic post under "Free Hockey Addresses" and seeing that most of those addresses were a year or two old (some more), it makes me think again about buying the hockey address list put out by that guy Harvey in Florida.
Bad Points: 1) it costs $18 2) I hear he's a nasty guy when it comes to getting updates and customer service in general.
Good Points: I hear it is a well researched list with a small percent of undeliverable addresses.
So, here's the question: Is the hockey list by Harvey worth my buying an $18 Christmas present for myself. Is it as good as everyone says? I'm interested in mostly NY Rangers as you probably got from my name.
Everyone enjoy the holidays,

I wouldn't recommend it since most of the addresses are floating around on the Internet and different autograph sites already. I hear it's a waste of money, but then again it's only $18!!

I understand that most of the addresses are floating around the Internet, Tannis, but aren't most of them being researched by this guy Harvey? He stops selling his hockey list and a lot of the newly found addresses dry up and a lot of us have to go back to sending c/o teams 100% which I don't prefer.

That's true, but a lot of people attempt to do their own research. I have 4 untested addresses in the mail right now. So it depends if you don't mind using your stamps or not. Regardless, I hear that his do dry up eventually, even if you buy it.
Your choice though, I mean, it's not really that expensive. :)

I buy Harvey's list every year. Only the addresses of the more popular players are floating around on the internet. I buy it for the 1000;s of lesser known players. Also I have corresponded with Harvey many times for updates and he has always been great about sending me info. I would recommemd the list to everyone and I will personally keep supporting him every year.

Yea, it stinks paying the 18 bucks for the list, but it saves alot of time and stamps with the updated addresses. I would highly recommend the list from Harvey Meiselman.

I do a lot of research and as well as many others on players from all leagues and all countries. Harveys research consist of surfing sites such as this one and compiling addy's from our successes. At first I did not know who Harvey was and everytime I had a success that I posted on sites sharing successes I had this guy from Florida asking for the addy who I found out later was havey. The players I research are not big time players to most but they are to me. I am a little more reserved on who I share addresses with becuase these sites are meant to help people with a hobby we all love and makes most of us sick to know people profit from our love of Hockey Autographs. If you are going to take at no charge info from the these type forums then return something at no charge to these forums.
Everyone keep up the great work with TTM successes and enjoy!

Hey Your RIGHT on. It's the same for the guy in Oakville. Telling us to pay $10 to$25 bucks for no name player's. WE should all stop buying adderss and autograph's from them. Have a good holiday

This may be perfect timing because this is Harvey Meiselman in FL and this is the first time I visited this site in over a year because of all the "Gimme gimme" teenagers out there who want something for nothing and return absolutely nothing to the hobby. I only visited because a friend emailed me about this thread and I thought I'd get a kick out of reading it.
To answer unregistered, I don't email people who post successes on other websites, or this one, and ask for addresses. 100% of my research is original and if you don't believe me I can show you over $1900 in bills I've incurred this year at good address search engines where dates of birth can be verified, family members names and previous addresses. I don't use any websites where at least dates of birth and full names and residence history are given. So, whoever posted this comment is a liar. It's very easy to stay anonymous and throw around ridiculous accusations.
Next, to The Golden Jet, yes you did purchase a few of my lists but when you asked for 12 address updates you hadn't purchased a current list and my policy is no updates to non-current customers, otherwise I'd be doing nothing other than selling someone a list and doing updates for them forever. I did send you 4 updates out of courtesy. YOU'RE WELCOME.
Tannis, yes some of my addresses do become old, but I update them very quickly and accurately. And I never deny a current customer an update. Between myself and about 8-10 other collectors, we send out over 800 letters a month to confirm new addresses I've found and make sure old addresses are still good. That's also what you get for your $18 but nobody seems to care about that.
Good night gentlemen.

Do these guys really not mind you sending stuff to their home addresses? Do you send money or return envelopes?

Don't buy Harvey's list. He joins sites & asks the owners to give him $$ to post addresses. All of the addresses on his lists can be found on free sites all over the net. Here are a few good sites with lots of FREE addresses:

http://prohockeyautos.proboards33.com/
www.star-collector.net
Save your $18 folks !! Why pay for the cow, when you can get the milk for free.
Merry XMAS everyone

Big Joe from TO: there are so few true jerks in the world like you. Luckily. I have known Harvey for over 7 years and he has never been paid by a website owner to post addresses. I mail over 600 letters a year based on addresses Harvey finds and report the successes to him so he can add them to his lists. Harvey mails about 1,000 letters a year and I know for sure that he works with 5-6 collectors like this to keep his addresses updates. What we get for this is a free list every year and a chance to get in on the newly found addresses early before every else swamps them with requests.
And who do you think provides a better service for us autograph collectors? Harvey who charges a few dollars for his list but keeps it updated for us for free or the websites that you listed who post players addresses on their site (usually from Harvey's list anyway) and then don't update them when they find out the addresses are no longer good.
Waste your money Big Joe.....I love it and you'll be out of the hobby soon enough.

#1 EAT my Ass. He asked for money to post on my website. Lots of people have trouble getting updates from him. I have gotten over 1,500 successes without using Harvey's list. So Shutty your face.

I just emailed Harvey and received an answer that if you're stating what you are, that he asked you for money to post addresses on your website, that you're a liar.
Here's part of his response to me. "Gene, you know me better than that. I don't like posting home addresses on anyone's website and look what happened when I posted home addresses on my own website. It ended after, what 5 days because of some jerk like this. He's a teenager playing with himself. Why do you even bother with those websites any more. How many times have I told you that I don't even have 1/3 of the time I used to have to go online to some of the websites I used to enjoy. Why would you think I would have time to post addresses on websites, whether for money or free. My full time job and the address list business keep me totally busy. You can have this jerk Big Joe from T.O. I just can't deal with L-I-A-R-S anymore."
Talk to you soon.
Harvey
There you are Joe. The man himself called you a liar. Get out of the hobby before you ruin it for everyone decent.

Looks like someone on here is just trying to sell some lists for Harvey. I have never purchased his list myself, but like anything else in life I have heard good & bad things about the list. Maybe everyone just needs to grow up & start having fun with this hobby.

I can't believe what I am reading here. I have purchased harvey's list for the past 4 years. His customer service is second to none - my emails to him are returned much quicker than I expect. I HIGHLY recommend using his list - I'm not sure what your time is worth, but it's only $18 - if I can save 30 mins of my time - it pays for itself. I can understand that you may not want to pay - but there certainly isn't any reason to bash HM - he is a great guy and has helped me get back over 1000 TTM autographs in the last couple years.

Thirsty - I'm not trying to sell any of Harvey's lists for him. Believe me, he doesn't need my help. All I wanted to do is not let this guy spread vicious rumors and lies about Harvey, that's all. Buy Harvey's lists. Don't buy his lists. Just don't spread lies to try and hurt Harvey. Admit it or not, he is a great asset to this hobby of our's.

Buy it if you want - you obviously think it's a great time saver.
Don't buy it if you want - you obviously think it's a waste of money.
Everyone on here, myself included, has got too much time on their hands to be bickering back and forth about Harvey, not even the hobby itself.
We all need to grow up and enjoy the hobby.
