View Full Version : Trivia question about brothers in NHL
David D.
December 18th, 2005, 10:27 PM
Was watching a game tonight and they mentioned that there had been 27 sets of brothers that were in the NHL... to which, I quickly grabbed a pen and came up with a couple.
(Funny enough, the doofuses that were doing the broadcast said that only the Niedermayer and Sedin brother combinations were presently in the NHL... forgetting that Saku and Mikka Koivu are in the NHL.)
But, it got me thinking about the brother combinations...
I got the following...
1. Sutter
2. Niedermayer
3. Mahovilich
4. Cook (Bill & Bun)
5. Esposito
6. Koivu
7. Sedin
8. Bure
9. Lemieux (Mario & Alain)
10. Plagers
11. Paiement (Wilf & Rosaire)
12. Hull
13. Kariya
14. Hicke (Ernie & Bill)
15. Watson (defencemen from Philly in 70s)
16. Courtnall
17. Fedorov
18. Stastny
19. Gretzky (Wayne & Brent)
20. Savard (Andre & ??)
21. Dionne (Marcel & ??)
22. Howe (Marty & Mark)
23. Richard
24. Turgeon (Sylvain & Pierre)
25. Pronger
26. ?????
27. ?????
Can't get the other two...
Too, I might be wrong about the Savard and Hicke brothers... but I don't think so.
Anyone come up with the other two combos? I am driving myself crazy?

They both have appeared in an NHL game though so I guess they could count.

I don't believe Anton Stastny's son Matthew has played in the NHL, AHL or even been drafted. If anyone has any info on Paul's cousin Matthew let me know. Thanks.
