personally i think that its not the rules that make the game good but players. with 30 teams the talent is so stretched that sum guys who dont deserve to be in the nhl r in it. wen a commentator or analyst says that hockey is better than ever their dead wrong. think about it. did they 4get the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s (up until about 95-96ish). i think that in the nhl rite now there r lots of great talents but no great players. i really dont think ne 1 in the nhl is destined 4 greatness. the exception is those on the way out (lemieux,sakic,yzerman etc). in my opinion this is why scoring went down. in all the history in the nhl, players have cheated by obstructing, hooking, interference etc but the great players can overcome it and still be great. I never heard gretzky complain about beign hooked. so just think about it. my idea is a new 6 team nhl again with the best players being more concentrated making the game more exciting and fun.
