I sent to Dave Christian at that address on November 26, 2007 and am still waiting.

I had success with Mark Pavelich in 2006 at this address. (22 days)

Here's an embarrassing story for everyone to peruse. It was sometime around '89 and I was hanging out outside gate 3 at the old Chicago Stadium hoping to get some graphs as the visiting team left to board their bus. I knew many of the Blackhawks by sight but not many of the visiting Blues. As I was waiting, a guy comes out and stands behind me talking to a friend. I overheard him say that he didn't have a very good game. I turned around and looked at him but still had no clue who he was. I finally politely asked him and he said if I didn't know I was out of luck. I told him that everyone is blurry from the 3rd level--especially if they wore visors on their helmets and I'd had a few beers. He still wouldn't tell me who he was. A 10 or 11 year old boy came up and asked him for his autograph and gave him a card that he willingly signed. As the kid left, I asked to see the card. Talk about feeling awful, I was "insulting" Dave Christian! I had a couple of cards of him and sheepishly approached whereby he signed them with a wry smile on his face. Man, did I feel like a dog. Anyone else ever have one of those moments?

I used to work for the Pittsburgh Penguins PR Department and once after a game with Colorado Avalanche in 1999 I was mistaken for Ian Moran who was then a defensemen with the Pens, but this story gets better. As an employee of the team I had access to most areas of the arena and after games I got to leave via the entrance/exit that both teams use, although unlike players I had to park almost a mile away. Anyways after this Sunday afternoon game, I came out of the exit and hung out talking to one of the Avs equipment guys and while I am doing this Darius Kasparitais, German Titov, and Maxim Galanov come out and start signing autographs for the people waiting near the buses, they are all great guys. After a few minutes Titov and Galaonov leave but Kaspar is still signing so I start to walk out towards the gate to leave and this man and woman start screaming Ian! Ian! Please sign Ian! And they are yelling so loud that I turn to look and they are looking at me, and before I had the chance to explain that, Yes I look like Ian Moran (although not paid anything close to what he was and minus his babe posse). Just then as these people are practicaly screaming at me, Kaspar not more than 10 feet away say in broken English " Yah Ian, sign for nice people" and then he gave me this goofy smile. (awesome guy). I didn't want to sign someones item, not being Ian Moran, but these people were almost begging so I knew what Ian's auto looked like and signed a few cards and a team picture with his auto, I apologize if this was anyone who is reading this, item. And while I did this Kaspar is chuckling and people were looking at him like he was high and I kept looking over my shoulder for Ian to come out but he never did. Later I found out he broke a bone in his foot and stayed late with trainers or something. I guess later he told Ian about this because I came to work one day there was one of my business cards signed with my name but signed by Ian Moran. It was funny and anytime I saw Ian after that asked me if he signed anything good lately? Its not a great story but I thought you guys might enjoy it. Have a nice day!

Probably the same year I got Christian I was at a different Blackhawks game. It had ended and the crowd was leaving. I was standing inside gate 3 waiting until security booted me out into the cold when an autograph hound came up and said he had just gotten Robert Kron--who was a scratch that night. I had 2 Kron cards and asked him where he got him. He said Kron had just walked by us and was heading down the hall and he pointed to the area. Never having seen Kron, I just assumed he was taller than me and athletically built. There was a guy fitting my imagination of what Kron looked like halfway down the hall so I took off at a quick pace to catch him. When I got within earshot I yelled "Mr. Kron! Mr. Kron!" The short guy in a suit a foot in front of me stopped suddenly and turned around. I ran smack into him never realizing that it was Kron. I apologized and he asked what I wanted. That's when I realized that the 5'10" listed on the back of Kron's card was a very generous guess as to his height. I swear Kron was no taller than 5'7" or 5'8". He obliged my request for 2 sigs and I shuffled off redfaced as all heck. I'd have a tough time deciding who was shorter--Kron or hockey HOFer Tommy Ivan who I also got that night. (My apologies to Mr. Kron if he reads this posting.)
