so i recently got the nhl network (greatest thing ever) and have been watching classic hockey pretty much non-stop, although i noticed something kinda weird that i was hoping somebody could help me with, it appears that if you go back far enough, like to the early 80's, all the alternate captains don't have an "A" on their jerseys, which seems pretty weird to me because i could have swore that i've seen players who played before the 80's (bobby orr and ted lindsay come to mind) who had an "A" on their jersey, if anybody knows what's going on with all that, please let me know

well this seems to be a stumper, i'm pretty sure they wouldnt just do away with alternate captains, if i had to guess i would say they just temporarily didnt have them wear A's on the jersey, i could be wrong though, if anybody knows for sure, the info would still be appreciated
