well today i found out that i need american postage for an sase from the us to canada. When i sent out my sase to ted lindsay asking for my photo to be signed, i had on a canada post sticker saying i paid for the postage. I guess now I don't have to wait for my thing to come back as it probably never will. Ted Lindsay will not pay for the postage. Im damn sure about that.

yep im trying to. It just pisses you off when you ask the person working at the post office what you need to do and they end up telling you the wrong thing.

doesn't it make sense that a country would have its own postal system and postage stamps as well to go along with it?

don't worry I've made the mistake of sending out requests without American postage, you can buy American postage in Canada, just go to a local hobby shop one that deals with stamp collecting it is usually they'll have some. Good luck!

You can buy American stamps through the Canada Post catalogue, "Collections".
Your local post office should have a few copies. They are collector's stamps but you can still use them for return postage. Also, some board members will also trade American stamps for Canadian stamps. Maybe some friends or relatives of yours might be traveling to the US. If they are, maybe they can get some US stamps for you. There are many alternatives to get US stamps.

I call the United States Postal Service 1800STAMP24 and order stamps over the phone with a credit card. I paid an addition $6.00 shipping charge. Not a bad deal if you order enough stamps.

The stamps will be .42 cents each for 1st class mail. No different that going to a US post office and buying them, or any of their other outlets.

Easiest just to hook up with a willing fellow board member and do a stamp swap for equal value, and using one of the stamps to simply mail the sheet of remaining stamps to the person. This has always worked for me. Work with someone you know/ trust, though. Cheers.

You guys who put the wrong countries currancy on SASE's are morons. It's common sense that a country requires its own stamps. Even a 7 year old can figure that one out! Hopefully that Lindsay photo wasn't too valuable :(
But I should mention that years ago I mailed to Keith Tkachuk via the Winnipeg Jets. I finally got my cards reatuned signed a few years later in my Canadian SASE via Phoenix (where the Jets relocated during that time). My Canadian Stamps actually worked via the USPS. It is posible.

Hey guys,

Let's get this right. From the US to Canada is a US 72 cent stamp for 1 ounce. From Canada to the US is a Canadian 96 cent stamp for about 1 ounce. If you are mailing 8x10's from the US, it will probably be twice as much since the rate for bigger envelopes is more and it will weigh more with cardboard. Plus you'll need to fill out a declarations form. Coming back from Canada is probably twice as much for the same reasons but you don't need the declarations form (as far as I can tell). Hope this clears this up.

so that means ill pay around 3 bucks for an 8x10 to return to me? I would have to fill out a declarations form?

No, you don't have to fill out a declarations form for an 8x10. You can simply drop it off in any mailbox and it will get back to you, assuming the postage is covered. I've done this countless times and have never had to fill out any forms or even go to the post office.
