It's nice to be getting more than one a day back, now before i post the success and get yelled at for the Rousseau, I usually send all the cards I have of a player and ask them to sign what they can and to please feel free to keep the rest. So without further delay.

Bobby Rousseau 10/10 singed 9 cards and one index card, and unfortunately i forgot about another card in the set that he was featured on, so I'll send a thank you letter with that card.

I think I'll send an apology/thank you letter later this week. I am grateful that he at least signed 2. I always include in my letter that they are welcome to keep the rest of the cards they don't sign, but he still returned the others.

Just a heads up there is 5 cards in the Original 6 set that can not be signed, Horton & Harvey died before the set came out and of course the 2 checklists. But there is 3 cards that have 2 versions, Ken Hodge has an action shot and a studio shot (studio shot is not him), Norm Ullman one with the flag has a flipped back & Billy Harris an on ice card (not him) and a studio shot.

Not sure why they had 2 versions of some of the cards, there was only one sheet of cards when they printed them and all the "error" ones were on it.

lafleurfan10
May 23rd, 2009, 12:25 PM
Yea, I'm going through the checklist for the missing link and the Parkhurst 66/67 to find out which players have died before after the sets came out, and I'll list the impossible ones as complete. Should have an update soon.

May 23rd, 2009, 01:21 PM
That 56/7 Missing Link set is a great one. I currently have 70 cards signed from that set. Trying to get as many as I can autographed.

lafleurfan10
May 23rd, 2009, 03:57 PM
The only one I've gotten so far is Harry Watson, although before I decided I was going to collect the set I had at one point Maurice Richard, and Bob Turner. Kinda sorry I got rid of em now.

siksyko
May 23rd, 2009, 04:12 PM
I was doing all 3 Missing Link sets but decided to only do the tall boys. I was over 100 signed with both the other two. I broke them up and traded a lot of them away. I am kind of regretting it now, oh well. I'm going to start on another set like them soon, just not sure which one.

lafleurfan10
May 23rd, 2009, 05:17 PM
I'd start on the Tallboys but I don't have a complete unsigned set, although I already have Floyd Smith's card signed.

uncleguyguy
May 23rd, 2009, 05:39 PM
You maybe wanna trade that Floyd Smith Tall Boy for a Missing link card? I have an extra "deceased" Bill McNeil that I'd trade straight up for it. Also, I sent you an email with a jpg file of an enlarged Missing Link Tally Sheet.

The other night they mentioned on tv that glenn had not attended the playoffs because his wife was very ill and i wonder if he has had to move to an extended care facitlity for her sake. Just a thought because i had success at that address just a couple of months ago as well.

TannisS

Glenn Hall has been known for refusing mail or charging for autographs in the past. It was a pleasant surprise that he signed for a few years, but perhaps with his wife ill, he has chosen to refuse any autograph requests again.

I guess he is getting wise like a lot of ex NHL players and they realize that people are just throwing their signatures up on ebay all the time.

Over 15 years, and he may be a little leniant!!!!! I'm talking about the people who send to these players every couple of months!!

I read somewhere about this, I forget where, but there are a few players (both current (MA Fleury) and former) that tend to do this, especially with E-Bay. I wish I could remember where, and some of the examples, but there was one former player that actually wrote to someone, "you already sent to me" or something to that affect.

Anyways..... :)

Thats a good thing I feel because it means they do read the letters sent and it makes the exchange more personal.Especially since the majority are basically free and the player or ex player really does not have to sign.So I dont think there is anything wrong with them keeping track.

lafleurfan10
June 2nd, 2009, 11:06 PM
I'm surprised more players don't keep track, If I send twice its because I have something new that I'd like to get signed and I'll usually put that in my letter that I have sent to them before. Or if I have a lot of different cards I need signed I'll send money, for example I sent 20$ to Beliveau because he has like 7 cards in the missing link set plus 2 in the 66/67 parkie reprints.

Wally Hergesheimer 7/3 I sent 3 custom cards an said he could keep 2 (which he did), 1 missing link card, and one index card, and he sent back one of my customs signed, 1 missing link card + 1 more of the same card signed, 2 of his own mini photos signed, one index card signed and nice signed short note. Definitely one of my favorite successes of all time. All in about 2 weeks, another great reason to send to older players.

now for the let down. I received a large 10X12 envelope from the NY Rangers today, thinking it was a request in which the player had added an 8X10 or something to that effect. One that I thought I'd never see again, returned my five items and 1 item they added unsigned after about 2 years. The item added was a HHOF postcard exactly like the one Harry Howell is sending out, I'm willing to be that we will be seeing many more of these postcards from Rangers players. I would definitely call this a success as there were two card in the envelope that I would like to get signed by some other people.

That is cool the story I have is with Andy Bathgate .I know people who live 2 doors from him they said he would sign a few things for me, when I went to get them they weren't signed .They got on the phone and here comes Andy with a handful of markers still in his socks and willing to sign what I had.

So i'm halfway back from my quebec trip, and I call home to see if I got any mail, from what I hear I've recieved my letter to Johnny "Peanuts" Oflaherty back, and not just a sorry my father passed away notice, it appears to have also been signed, but I am not sure, I will have to compare it to other autos I already have from him. Im not sure what to think as he died in mid 2008. Will keep this topic updated.

Wow!! Just, wow!! It's hard to believe he would sign everything and not mail it, but perhaps he signed everything he received in, but couldn't get out because of illness to mail them...... would be a pleasant surprise, especially if mine came back as well!!!!! :D

Just got home today, checked out the O'Flaherty envelope and got...

John O'Flaherty signed 3/3 this is over a year after he died, but the signatures are identical to the ones i got back from him 2 and a half years ago. his family also added a bookmark with him pictured and listing his date of death and date of birth. This IS my all time favorite success these signatures will never leave my collection.

yea, thanks! I have framed the one 4X6 and bookmark am considering sending the custom picturing the other two (at the time) living New York Americans, Pat Egan, and Murray Armstrong, but Egan has since passed away. If I did send to Armstrong I would get it registered and tracked.

At the moment I have intermittent use of the internet as we moved to an area without high speed, so my posts have been infrequent. Anyway after a month of nothing, I received
Gilles Meloche 6/6 in 12 days c/o home

I have a few others out so hopefully I get back to posting more.

Darryl Sittler 4/4 Signed 2 8X10s (Personalized), 1 Custom Index Card and 1 Event Program.
Was great, he smiled and even chatted for a bit, and seemed to be more than happy to pose for some pictures with people. It's nice to meet players who appreciate fans.

Send those Ultimate Original Six checklists out to be signed! For instance I've got those 75th anniversary cards signed by Johnny Bower and Ted Lindsay. Besides the team cards duel signed, (I've got all except Boom Boom on the Habs card) check out who's pictured on the individual card's...I got Mr. Bower to sign Tim Horton's, he's also on Hillman, too. I may not get the entire set due to the passing of so many of the all-time greats, but I'm still looking at all my options! I'm up to 76 1/2 signed now with the Hull/Gumper duel, lol. Use your imagination!!!

Just as a heads up, Emile Bouchard is now limiting auto's to 1 per request, just got home and opened my envelope he signed 2/5 and sent a form letter stating

"Please take note:

Even though Mr. Emile Bouchard is very honoured by your interest in his career, he cannot sign more than one item per fan, considering the number of requests he receives and his health condition, at 91 years old.

If ever you would like more item signed, you have to go through Mr. André Lessard.

So at least he is still signing something, he signed my all time Montreal Canadiens custom and a lesser photo, that I offered for him to keep, but left my 1945 Quaker Oats Photo that I was really hoping to get signed. Although, I had to mail my letter separately because I forgot to include it in the original envelope, I am still very grateful to receive it back at all.

Also, I haven't updated my signature in quite awhile, so the numbers below my post aren't entirely accurate, I'll probably update or remove them later.

I used the Canadiens alumni address, not sure what it is, but it's on this site somewhere, sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Here is the Address:

Player's name
c/o Montreal Canadiens Alumni
1275 St. Antoine Street West
Montreal, Qc
H3C 5L2

I have had a lot of success with a lot of former Hab players using this address. On a side note, it's the same address you would use for current players, except that instead of addressing it to the Montreal Canadiens you add the word Alumni on the second line...this way they know how to re-direct the mail to the appropriate office in the building.

Good luck.
