I would be interested in hearing from fellow collectors on who they think are the toughest hockey autographs to obtain of players who started playing after 1950.

Post playing career I think are Michel Bergeron, Gary Inness, Jim Watson who was with Detroit in the 60's as have written 3 times wih no response, Lory Gloeckner who I wrote 2 times with no response, Mike Korney twice with no response just to name a few.

Mike Korney changed his name to Mike Korey.
Larry Brown, Alain Daigle, Gary Smith, Ron Chipperfield, Bob Sirois, Tony White, Yves Belanger and Pierre Jarry are all difficult to obtain.

Gary Inness
IMO I have 16 kids from work that see him everyday
I got one only because he owed a kid a favor and the kid was able to ditract him before he personalized it to him for me.
That one took 7 years and I live in the same city and 2 blocks from where he teaches!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you try the address for Mike Korney in Yorkton SK ? He signed for me a few years ago at that address.

I'd say that Don Simmons has to be pretty close to the #1 spot on this list.

I tried Butch Deadmarsh (home) and Gilles Lupien (office) three times with no success.
Can anyone report a response from those players ? I can not remember seeing a story about success in this or in other forums.

Tried them both at home addresses in 2006. Also had no success for either one.

Wasn't ever able to write Bergeron as I haven't ever seen a mailing address.

Frank Nigro, Vince Tremblay, Doug Acomb, Ray Ceresino, Fred Arthur
At one time Mike Korney, Gary Inness, Butch Deadmarsh, Gilles Lupien were all fine TTM. Was even lucky enough to get Don Simmons prior to his complete shutdown in the mid 80's.

An aquaintance of mine who owns and runs a local sports card shop told me that Gary Smith is now homeless on the streets of Vancouver due to becoming an alcoholic. He said Gary is sometimes seen wandering around the Pacific Coliseum during Vancouver Giants games and one time gave him $20 to sign a card for him. I have a feeling that the murder of his brother may have brought on his alcoholism. It's sad to see someone with such a colorful personality as Gary hit rock bottom like this. Hopefully one day he'll get the opportunity to straighten out his life. He deserves it.

Not sure if that's true. An acquaintance of mine phoned Gary and chatted with him and sent him a few cards to get signed.

Hopefully your right on this one. I knew he owned horses in the 90's but didn't still know if he did. This aquaintance of mine probably just paid some homeless guy who looked like Gary Smith 20 bucks to sign. Sounds like a sweet deal for the homeless guy ;)
