Hey Gang
Has anyone ever sent the wrong letter to a player?
I sent Scott Parker an 8X10 to his home address. A week later I got the photo back with a gorgeous signature, personalized. He also wrote his motto "Kill 'em all!"
He wrote on the back of my letter that I sent "Next time you see Gino tell him him I said Hi". I turned the letter over and it was the letter that I meant to send to Gino Odjick praising his career. At least Scott had a sense of humor! Whoops.
Curious whether anyone else had done this before.
Cheers

Hey at least you sent the pic to the right player...it is even more embarrassing when you get the letter back and you sent the correct note but wrong pic and now you have nothing but egg on your face. lol

One time I sent a Rudy Migay letter to Phil Goyette but he mentioned nothing of it, and still signed my cards. Also have sent to a man named Don Willson who played in the NHL, turns out I had the wrong person

Rudy must be such a nice guy he didn't want to tell you...i had don awrey tell me that the card i sent wasn't him in the picture and he didn't sign it but he did take the time to tell me it was Skip Krake and signed the note he wrote.

Thats a great story... simple mistake, but I could see some players that are a-holes getting a bit upset. Parker seems like a cool guy for doing that..
I remember one time I saw outside the teams hotel, a guy get Dody Wood on an index card because he wasn't sure who he was. Wood refused to sign the index card since the guy didn't know who he was??? What a jerk! Based on his stellar career in the NHL he should of been happy to sign for the guy.........

Interesting subject. Let me tell you a funny and amazing story:
Back in February 2009, I mailed a letter to Tampa Bay goaltender
Olaf Kolzig, at his home address, which I got from an online public phone directory. (www.addresses.com) I sent from Ingersoll, Ontario.
1849 Bayou Grande Blvd NE
Saint Petersburg, FL 33703
A few weeks ago, I got a reply from the new resident of that address.
While Mr. Kolzig no longer lived there, he did provide help.
A freind of his, was, at one time, part owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
His name is Mr. Phil Esposito.
He got Phil to forward my letter to the team, and Phil sent me a personalized autographed 8X10 photo of himself.
The amazing thing was, that this "new" resident of the above address,
was originally from Ingersoll. He still visits the Ingersoll Gold and Country Club
often.
What are the odds that my letter, would end up in the hands of someone from Ingersoll, and knew the former owner of the team? 1000000 to 1
at least.

That's cool. I have heard that both Espo's are real fruit loops when it comes to signing stuff.

I met Tony Esposito a few years back at the ASG in Atlanta. He was doing an appearance with youth hockey. I went to go see him, and ended up talking to him a bit. At first, he was only going to sign a couple of items. As we were talking, he said "What the heck. How many ya got?". I walked out of there with 14 different autos. (It helped that I was the only person there to see him, and we talked about the newly launched NHL Alumni wines). Not too bad at all!
