I just read on the NY Rangers website that Bill Chadwick, a Rangers broadcaster and the referee who pioneered the use of hand signals to denote penalties, has passed away at the age of 94.
I was fortunate to get his autograph a couple of months ago, although it was very shaky and his wife alluded to his deteriorating health. Nevertheless, I'm especially glad I have it now.
I was also sad to hear of Ernie Laforce's passing a couple of weeks ago. I spoke with him in the summer and he was as bright as a penny, joking with me and having a great conversation.
