My question is about this item on eBay : 400062456199

Do you think that it's the same Edgar Leduc who played for the Canadiens during the inaugural season in 1909 ? I have the confirmation that he was alive in 1943 (I read a 1960 newspaper saying that 2 ''original'' Canadiens players were still alive, him and Newsy Lalonde.

I know it's a tough question, but I want to have some opinions about this one.

Thanks !

The Leduc in the letter signs as "Mayor of Lachine" at the end of the letter indicating that he is the politician (consistent with his wiki bio), not the hockey player.

I suspect the politician to be the same guy as the hockey player because they are both born february 4th 1888 in Valleyfield.

It's the kind of thing that the SIHR can find

I do my research and it's the same guy.

I found the 1901 Canada census and there was only 1 Edgar Leduc in the Province of Quebec at this time (13 years old, born the exact same day that i posted before)

Thanks ! I bought this one and will probably make a 8X10 Canadiens cut signature custom.

I like consult the census. I find the family of a lot of hockey players like Joe Malone, Sprague Cleghorn etc. And all my ancestors are on the website with all the correct informations (icluding date of birth, job, religion, if they are married, their kids), it's nice !

I found in the past (with the help of the SIHR) that Hyacinthe Guevremont who played 2 games for the Canadiens in 1912 is the husband of a famous author in Quebec who wrote ''Le Survenant''. I did not know if they were 2 different guys or the same and they give me my answer with the help of the census. The game worn jersey of this player is in the Canadiens Hall Of Fame at the Bell Center and is the oldest Canadiens jersey found.
