I was just wondering if he got into coaching or still lives in Toronto because it seems that after he got traded from Toronto he was never heard from again I know he retired in something like '99 after playing in Europe

Hi,
I'm not sure what Gary is doing for a living. I know he lives near Caledon, Ontario on a 50 acre farm. I sent him a letter earlier this year with 3 cards to be autographed. He responded immediately, probably had the cards back within a week.
His address is:
Gary Leeman,
15158 Mississauga Rd.,
R. R. #1,
Terra Cotta, ON,
L0P 1N0.
Good luck,
Neil

Gary is one of the nicest guys in hockey and will usually sign whatever you have but he will not sign Montreal cards. Just thought I would give everybody a heads up on that one.

Gary did not give a reason why he would not do them. I saw him at a charity game last February. I had my usual sheet of cards out and he did every card but the Montreal ones so I assumed he wouldn't do them. Then I saw him at a card show in the Detroit area and I thought he might do them for the $5.00 fee. He would still not do them and said he does not sign Montreal cards. No explaination other than that yet he would do Montreal pucks and photos. I didn't get it but he was so nice about it I was not going to push it farthur.

I heard that he felt he was treated unfairly by the organization when he was there and refuses to have anything to do with Montreal. I also heard Mike Kean is the same way!

Mike was very bitter about Montreal cards for years but he has now lightened up and will sign them.

You know what guys, I met Gary this weekend at a fundraiser tournament and yes he is a great guy. In fact I think that he deserves to have his address taken off this post. This is not the sort of thing that should be made public. Hopefully, whoever put it there will kindly take it off.
thanks.

even if the post was removed there would still be other ways of finding it. and if the players dont want to respond to fan mail then they can just RTS them.

There is no invasion of privacy by sending a piece of mail to a person's home. They completely have the right to refuse it or throw it in the garbage. Addresses in the United States at least are public information and can be accessed through legal search databases and city records. This forum simply gives other collectors the opportunity to access players that may live thousands of miles away for an autograph. Its a great way to build a collection of signatures. So how is it not fair to a player?

First of all this board is for obtaining autographs from hockey players thru the mail, and that in some cases includes home addresses especially for players that are retired and there is no other way of contacting them. As posted earlier in the US all of this information is public knowledge and can be found on the inter net within minutes...
I don't understand why you are so concerned over this one address and not the other 1,000 or so that have been posted, unless you are Gary or a family member and I am sure if that is the case you can contact the board owner and request it be removed.
I would have to say that if home addresses upset you that much you should look for another site to read and stay away from this one. Remember a player or ex-player can refuse mail just like anyone else or throw it in the trash or choose to keep the items, I can't tell you how many things I have lost in the 20 plus years I have been doing this.
No sure what the point of your post was but I think it may have came off the wrong way??

I agree with what you guys are saying.
At first, I was hesitant to write to a retired player's home address. Now, I've warmed to the idea, as there are many players who can't be reached via a former team. Plus, I've had such outstanding success with it--especially with retired greats such as Glenn Hall, Ted Lindsay, Norm Ullman and Johnny Bower.
But if the player did not like getting these fan letters, they would not send back our cards signed, and we'd all get the hint sooner or later (like we did for Gary Smith or Tom Barasso).
I've even had a few players who have enclosed a quick note saying "No problem signing the cards--my pleasure" or "Thanks for writing".
If I was long retired, and still getting fan mail, I'd love it :) But that's just me.
