OK, so like last summer, I will keep a posting of the franchise transfers in the key hockey leagues. If there is a "*" by a city name, then it is a rumour, or at least uncomfirmed:

Is the WHA the new World Hockey Association and the WHA2 is defunct? Also I though Huntsville and Winston-Salem were playing in the South East Hockey League again.

WHA = World hockey association
The WHA2 has morphed into the EHL (Eastern Hockey League) after a falling out between David Waronker and the WHA.
Huntsville pulled out of the SEHL April 23rd, and Winston Salem followed suit on May 18. The EHL though has a few problems already, as the Orlando Seals owe the city of Orlando a fair chunk of change. The Lakeland Loggerheads website no long is in operation, if that means anything. The Alabama franchise is a bit different. Some reports have the Pelham AL franchise going to the SEHL, so that may mean the Birmingham team is the Pelham team, and the Alabama Slammers will be in Birmingham instead of Pelham (which I guess is close by, I can't say I really know That much about Alabama geography...)
There are reports still that have the Asheville franchise in the SEHL, in the EHL and not existing at all. The SEHL is said to be looking at Columbus GA for this season, and Savannah GA, Huntington WV, Cincinnati OH for 0506.
From reading some of the debate on the Hunstville message boards, there is a fair bit of skepticism in the South about the leagues.

not accoding to the WHA website, and it is not even listed as a potential site:
Birmingham, Alabama
Cincinnati, Ohio
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Montréal, Québec
Phoenix, Arizona
Toledo, Ohio
Don't ask me, I'd put a team there.
