Player Ice Time (research)

I am a university student (and hockey player!!) researching the structure of nhl teams from 1988-1999. I am wondering if anyone knows how to get information regarding players' time on ice for specific games during any of these seasons. This includes locating shift charts for games during this time, game summaries with point and plus/minus summaries, or any other documentation you might know of. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Maybe try writing to the teams, although lots of times they'll reply with a bunch of pocket schedules stuffed in an envelope. Or try writing to the NHL. The chief statistician for the NHL is Benny Ercolani at the Toronto address according to the latest official guide:

Thanks for the suggestions...unfortunately, the teams actually don't usually even keep the information we are looking for. I'll try contacting the NHL though...any other ideas, anyone??? Thanks!
