Actually, it's a tough call if you really think it out, but I'd have to say hockey. There are a lot more shots on goal and even though a soccer goalie exposes himself to serious injury by leaving the net once and awhile, the hits put on a hockey goalie are more constant.

If you run into the goalpost, you probably shouldn't be playing! The hockey goalie has it way tougher. For one, there's no way a guy can kick a soccer ball on goal with nearly as much force or speed as a frozen hockey puck can travel. Even though goalies are heavily padded, a slapshot to the mask can render a goalie senseless for awhile. Also, guys can't park their asses in front of the crease in soccer the way they do in hockey and they don't crash the net in an out of control manner like a skater does. Hockey goalies are tough son of a guns. They get knocked down, ran into, and face wicked blasts of rubber of over 100 m.p.h. Need I say more?! The only love I give to soccer goalies is that that is one huge-ass goal they have to cover!

Its funny on penalty shots, soccer goalies guess where the players going to shoot, and then they dive in the total opposite direction of the ball.

I think that you all are dumb...hockey you just skate around and hit a puck! Soccer is the best sport, 45 min halfs of pure sweat and blood trying to score a goal...ever tried it? If you say hockey you must of not have but soccer is more competive trust me!

I have played many years soccer and I was a goalie. But I have to say that it is
boring to stand there and wait that something happends. It is depressing game and thats why it is harder :)

I shall come as a tie breaker.
I have played goalie in both hockey and soccer. Here is how I compair them.
1. As was stated, there are some hard, fast shots. A soccer ball to the head hurts, but a puck to the head gets you a bad concusion.
2. The size of the net, compaired to the speed of the puck or ball evens out a bit.
3. The shape of the puck is what makes a hockey goalie tougher. A puck has a lot more weird bounces compaired to a normal round ball.
4. Soccer goalies do wear equiptment. It is good to the speed of the ball and the size of the net, same with hockey goalies.
Overall, I would say that it takes a tougher person to be a hockey goalie. Hockey is a faster sport. Plus, there is the horrible smell you have to deal with after games. You don't get that with soccer.
I love hockey, it is a much better sport (in my opinion).
