I thought that it might be a good idea to keep track of the players who've retired this year and will retire during the summer, as they aren't always announced, especially since there are so many ancient players vital to their team's success ( ex. A - the Leafs ) .
I 've started with a few of the obvious ones:
Adam Oates
Mark Messier
Jeff Hackett
Joe Juneau ( the Habs just won't be the same without him )
Hopefully, ( but not likely ) only a few more will join this list in the shadow of the CBA and Bullsh*t Bettman's tyranny.

well, Leafs wise Ronny Francis is done. He'll be reitring soon, but Leetch will be back. Thats all I can think of the top of my head.

You'll have to ask his wife about that-- she's the one who signed him up for this past season!!!!
may be she'd like him to take a run at #2

Hackett retired during the season. Andreychuck will definitely retire and Messier might play 1 more year. I'm surprised Roenick and Lindros didn't retire with all those concussions.

Messier's done. The way he talked at the end of the season, all the hoop-la. He will retire, it will be extremely difficult for him though.

I just can't believe Tommy's done for good in the NHL. He was so steady for the Oilers - until the Olympiques. I think Edmonton owed him at least one more season of loyalty, like Dallas gave Belfour in the Belfour/Turco powerstruggle. Belfour survived and re-established himself as a legitimate starting goaltender. Look for Tommy to do the same after one or two good seasons with MODO.

I'm starting to wonder how many years Brisebois and Dowd have left.

Anyone know if Ron Francis is playing in the NHL next year, if there's a season?

Francis isn't sure if he will be back playing next year, but if he does, it will probably be for the 'canes. The Hurricanes have offered him a job as director of player personel, though.
