What is the worst trade of all time?
Mine is Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Philadelphia's 1st round choice in the 1993 (Jocelyn Thibault) and the 1994 (later traded to Toronto, later traded to Washington who selected Nolan Baumgartner) Entry Drafts and cash for Eric Lindros on June 30, 1992. I think that Quebec should have been forced to make a bad trade seeing how Lindors refused to play for them, but it worked out surprisingly good for them instead.

No need for 2 trades with Best/Worst trades...

Since all of the Worst Trades are also the Best Trades (for either team)

Considering how crappy Bure has played since leaving Vancouver, I'd be willing to give him away, give him away, give him away now. I think the Rob Blake/Deadmarsh deal was definitely a big loss for L.A., who got an overrated defensive forward and gave away a hall of famer, Selke contender in Blake. If I recall correctly, Blake wasn't really into it at L.A. and wanted to be traded anyway?

Boy senorcarnival you better give your head a good shake. Let me first inform you that the Selke goes to the best defensive FORWARD in the league. As I hope you know, Rob Blake is a great DEFENCEMAN. I think you had the Selke confused with the Norris which he is a contender for every year.
Secondly, the trade that sent Rob Blake and Steven Reinprecht to the Colorado Avalanche for Adam Deadmarsh, Aaron Miller, a 1st round selection (David Steckel) in 2001, and player to be named later (Jared Aulin) is probably the best trade of the past 5 years. It worked out well for both teams. Adam Deadmarsh is not overrated. He is no Todd Bertuzzi or Joe Thorton, but he is great at his job. Lots of grit.

To Senators: Zdeno Chara (Was a candidate for the Norris last year)
Bill Muckult (Could of left him out and it still would of been a bad trade)
1st round draft pick (second overall) Jason Spezza will be one of the stars of the NHL.

To Islanders: Alexei Yashin (He's not worth $10 million a year let a lone $5 million)

This was the best trade Marshall Johnson made with the Sens. Worst trade of the new millenium maybe longer. This is my favorate trade though.

The Red Wings acquired Kris Draper from the Winnipeg Jets for future considerations ($1) in 1993. Gotta love GM Mike Smith.

How about the infamous trade the Islanders made for Trevor Linden? I believe a player by the name of Todd Bertuzzi was involved in that...who is TEAMMATES on Vancouver now with TREVOR LINDEN. Wonderful idea for a player that became the NHL's best power forward, by giving him up for someone that played two seasons and did nothing.

Let's also not forget trading Roberto Luongo and Olli Jokinen (not sure if it was on the same occasion or different ones) to Florida...God knows who they got back then. All I know is that I'd rather have Jokinen and Luongo than DiPietro and Kvasha AND Parrish. That's all.

Historically, no team bumbles with trades like Mad Mike Milbury.

That Lindros trade was the very very worst. But you have to look at it from the time. Forsberg was just drafted and the others weren't the best. Hextall was Ok then (he had some nagging injures) and Ricci was still young. That eventually turned into the worst trade ever but at the time it ws just really really bad. Quebec had also traded him to the Rangers. The Rangers players found out and that is why they went from top in the League standings to out of the playoffs to Stanley Cup.

Both are 32 years old...and here's where they stand right now.

Forsberg:
Games: 580
Goals: 216 (0.37/gm)
Assists: 525 (0.91/gm)
Points: 741 (1.28/gm)

Calder Trophy
1 Art Ross
1 Hart
2 Stanley Cups

Lindros:
Games: 678
Goals: 356 (0.53/gm)
Assists: 461 (0.68/gm)
Points: 817 (1.21/gm)

1 Hart
1 Pearson

Lindros played on some pretty good lines, but you can easily argue he made the line better. He had a solid cast around him (LeClair, Brind'Amour, Reechi). Forsberg had Sakic, Deadmarsh, Lemieux early on, and later Sakic, Hejduk, Drury, Tanguay.

Forsberg was always #2 to Sakic, while Lindros was the clear #1 on the team. Lindros was the most dominating player for a good 5-6 years, while Forsberg was dominating for the past 3 years.

Both had their share of injuries, Forsberg has 2 Stanley Cups, but in the last, only played in the first 2 rounds (both with Roy and Sakic and a great team), while young Lindros led a Flyers team to the Finals.

Barring any injury, there's no comparison between the two...Lindros was clearly head and shoulders better than Forsberg and just about every single player in the NHL cept for a few.

I think both should receive HOF consideration...Forsberg may get in taking in his international achievements, and I think Lindros will play 4-5 more years and get the #'s and have the career to warrant a HOF induction.

TRADED TO WASHINGTON

Cash
To pay for all they got.

All that for Lindros and nine concusions or however many he is up to now. You see this is obviusly one sided.

The Pavel Bure trade to the Rangers was bad. He played great for the Panthers it was just that there was no other good even 20 goal scorer so his assists couldn't get much higher. Igor Ulanov is a great D-man for the Oilers. But as it seens only for the Oilers. He had his best point season for the Oilers in 2000 (I think) and a top in goals with 5 in 2004 for the Oilers.
