During the last lockout in 1994-95, ESPN aired AHL and IHL hockey games until the NHL season opened in February.

Does anyone know whether or not ESPN will follow suit this year with airing AHL games?

They probably will. You have to remember one thing, there is still a contract. ESPN has a contract with the NHL. The deal probably states that if there is a lockout, some type of games have to be shown. I could be wrong, but I was told that was the rule.

I have a feeling that ESPN is thrilled there is a lockout, so they can focus on more college and pro basketball and football. I'm kind of surprised the the Fox sports net channels haven't started showing games from Europe.

id hope some networks will fill in the nhl hockey spots w/ AHL or some hockey. rather than fill it in w/ boring stuff.
