again another borderline player thats ego is overblown towards the fans. we were talking about derek laxdall the other day on here concearned someone was gonna ebay his autograph, tie domi comes to mind (he was in our small hometown being paid for a golf appearance i was rude & i heard wouldnt sign).
a friend of mine ran into yzerman a couple years ago at a junior tourament and a few were wanting himto sign and yzerman accused one of the people waiting for him that someone called him an asshole and wouldnt sign for any of them.
same friend went to the touring bruins alumni game and fans went right into the locker room and he said all were great except linesman.
i feel bad for ya bruinsfan, you could had a great ip sucess if not for mann.

I usually go to a few alumni events every year. The group Mann is associated with is called "oldtimer's challenge", Mann is and always has been a guy who thinks everyone is trying to make a buck off his name. Billy Smith is in the same group and he's similar to Mann, although he will sign certain items.

Most times with any alumni event, the players usually congregate after the game at a local restaurant, have a meal and a few beers. They sign at the restaurant and in the past, they have all signed pre-game on their way into the arena.

It's too bad you missed out on Theoren Fleury, he's one of the best NHL alumni in terms of interacting with the fans and signing. Last year he was here and was telling everyone, "just give me everything you have, I'll sign them all". He's a great guy.

In the future, if you see this group again, avoid Mann and Smith. Only ask Smith if you have everyone else already done. Sometimes he can be very accomodating, but other times he's just like Mann.
Looking to trade for 1990-91 Upper Deck or 2010-11 Upper Deck autographed cards.

    Current totals
signed UD 90-91 cards: need 26 to complete the set.
looking for UD 10-11 signed cards as well, need about 300 !

Thanks for your comments guys. I guess I just wanted to give the Mann the benefit of the doubt, but oh well. I've read some bad things about Anderson on here as well, but he was the only one who came out during intermission and skated to the glass in one corner and signed for anybody and then went to the other corner and did the same. Like I said several players were signing cards and pics through the glass at the bench, so they were nice if you were in the right place. I have more fun at junior games meeting and conversing with scouts, parents, etc. Also had a nice chat with Rebel Alex Petrovic before the game, so that was nice.

At least I got something back in the mail today.

IP at Red Deer Rebels vs Lethbridge Hurricanes game, March 16, 2012

He's such a friendly guy. He told me about the Flames Alumni that are playing a game next Saturday (March 24) in Airdrie at 2:00 pm, for anybody in the Calgary area who might be interested in attending.

Rich Preston 3/3 - he seemed surprised to see I had his WHA card.

Went to the last home game of the season for the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night. Unfortunately they lost to Edmonton and did not make the playoffs, but they always put forth a spirited effort despite losing over 300 man-games to injury this season, and most games they played at least one or two or even 4 players short of a full team.

This game marked the first game all season that I didn't get at least one persons autograph. I thought, with the season over, I would list all the former NHLer's I got this season to show others out there that junior games are worth going to for auto collectors, as well as being great hockey.

Pat Conacher - coach Regina Pats
Guy Charron - coach Kamloops Blazers
Sean Burke - son is goalie for Portland Winter Hawks
Jon Klemm - assistant coach Spokane Chiefs
Kelly Kisio - GM Calgary Hitmen
Dave Manson - Assistant coach Prince Albert Raiders
Brent Sutter - owner Red Deer Rebels
Mark Lamb - coach Swift Current Broncos
Geoff Sanderson - player deveopment coach New York Islanders
Nelson Emerson - player development coach Los Angeles Kings
Joel Otto - assistant coach Calgary Hitmen
Glen Hanlon - assistant coach Vancouver Giants
Jim Hiller - coach Tri-City Americans
    Dennis Polonich - player agent
Derek Laxdal - coach Edmonton Oil Kings
Rich Preston - coach Lethbridge Hurricanes

Also I saw or met these ones that I didn't have anything for them to sign:

Dave Lowry - son plays for Swift Current Broncos
Frank Musil - scout Edomonton Oilers
Thomas Gradin - scout Vancouver Canucks
Travis Green - coach Portland Winter Hawks
Don Nachbaur - coach Spokane Chiefs
Mark Ferner - coach Everett Silvertips

I will keep a closer eye out next season and be better prepared to get more former players.

Went to Calgary Flames Alumni game in Airdrie to help raise funds for a new arena. There was actually only a few players that actually played for the Flames, the rest just live in the Calgary area. Got the following to sign cards:

    Jeff Shantz 5/5
    Steve Kelly 2/2
    Morris Lukowich 3/3

Also had a large card included in the program that was signed by:

    Gord Sherven
    Todd Holt
    Dwayne Hay
    Craig Levie
    Steve Kelly
    Dennis Polonich
    Tony Stiles
    Morris Lukowich
    Warren Skorodenski
    Claude Vilgrain
    Archie Henderson

Sheldon Kennedy and Colin Forbes had to leave early due to other commitments, and Ronnie Stern and Mark Astley were scheduled to be there but couldn't make it.

In the past I've played or scorekept for these oldtimers games and Anderson signed 3 pucks in the dressing room for me I've had success with Mann on a couple occasions and had conversations with him (he also is part of the slo-pitch CFLers gig) and Even Billy Smith has sign mulitple items on the same day. Anderson in particular I had him sign a different puck every period lol.
