Kings fans like me since the mid-1970's are overjoyed; the rest of the city is pleasantly numb--it is a Lakers and Dodgers town. The beach area where the players live and all our rinks are still abuzz with the events of last month. I put on NHL Network and every 15 minutes there is a commercial celebrating the Stanley Cup victory, and I still smile and tear up a bit. I was at Game 6; it was almost like a religious experience for me. Next to the birth of my son, that day was one of the greatest days of my life.
I am mostly all Kings, but I do not have a problem branching out occasionally. I went to a Ducks event the other day, and although it felt like I was entering enemy lines, I had good conversations with Coach Boudreau, David McNab (Ducks VP of Hockey Ops), Emerson Etem, and some of the fans in attendance. I do not root blindly; I appreciate the game, and no one player sucks, whatever the uniform. If you can play at least one NHL game, you do not suck. I have a great love for the game and the players, and a healthy respect for the opponents on the ice and in the stands.
Good luck in your collecting--if you know of any former Kings or 500 goal scorers or Triple Gold Club players around your area, let me know. Perhaps I can help your collection in some way. Keep in touch. Louis
