just wondering if anyone has done the devils at the prudential center before?

was kicking the tires on going to the rock later this year.

any info would be most helpful.

Done it probably close to 100 times in these past several years.
In general, it's pretty good. They park down an "alley" that has a security guard. As they come down the alley, they tend to stop right before the intersection into the street.

The "regular" guys, plus Kovy in the past, are really good about stopping.
Brodeur and Stevens hardly ever stop and if they do, the autograph isn't that great.

That's a shame about Brodeur, as a collector of mainly goalies I'd love to add him to my collection but the cost of buying a certified auto card is too much. If he wasn't such a pain to get I'd have started a collection of "goaltenders credited with a goal" by now.

In a manner of speaking, we really should only blame ourselves.
Brodeur was once a completely different signer...he would sign multiples for everyone. Although the autograph was not always great, it was certainly better than today's non-paid version.

The change stems from an alleged incident where an autograph hound pulled on his arm at the practice arena while he was holding his twins. The over zelous autograph seeker, nearly caused Brodeur to drop his sons.....from then one, he's been different. couple that with the wins record, and he's pretty much impossible. I used to try to get him at morning skates or practice sessions, but I don't even bother. Even if he stopped, the signature isn't that good...so, I typically wait for a one of the few events where he tends to sign nicely.

I definitely don't want to hijack this thread but I felt inclined to comment on the 'we only have ourselves to blame' mentality. My problem is simply that we're all individuals and should be seen as such, even if we're all seeking the same thing (an autograph). That's an unfortunate Brodeur story and I'm sorry to hear there was someone inconsiderate enough to tug on his sleeve, especially while he was holding his kids.

I think there's a lot of different types of autographs seekers as well, a good example is when I met Glenn Anderson at an Oldtimers Game. He had little kids jumping around him screaming, asking him to sign things like popcorn buckets and disposable drink cups, while older folks were trying to get in their personal conversation with Glenn Anderson. He got fed up and told everyone to slow down and he'd get to everyone. I'd been sitting back watching the whole thing (because you always let kids go first) and it got pretty silly fast. He did get to everyone though and he was nice when I spoke with him.

Another example was at a YoungStars tournament and I saw Magnus Paajarvi, I asked for an autograph and a guy jumped in front of me with a box of Oilers pucks- we were the only two that recognized him. I didn't get an autograph because someone called Paajarvi away but the obvious eBay seller got about 10-12 pucks signed.

At the same tournament I got to see Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle coached by an agent on how to handle autograph seekers. The first thing he said is "keep moving", I had asked Eberle for an autograph and he said "Sure, walk with me." When I got Hall's autograph the agent told him to make sure he got the kids, but keep moving.

I guess my point is that if you're an autograph seeker, and you have any knowledge of the best way to go about it, share that knowledge with the people around you so we don't have people tugging on sleeves or crowding someone. When's the last time you heard someone, other than the person who is signing autographs, tell everyone to slow down and be polite. I just refuse to consider myself part of the people who are jerks when getting an autograph and everyone else should too.

But I could see why that incident would set him off. Sounds like a similar incident that happened with Jason Pominville in Buffalo. He was great at the arena until a overzealous female fan wrote her number on his truck in sharpie. That was 4 yrs ago. Since then ive gotten him 1 time at the arena, and that was when I was by myself and he recognized me as not one of the crazies lol. Anywhere else hes pretty good, but he will not do it there
