In the opening round against Vancouver, the Portland Buckaroos won game #2. However, an issue arose as they used a replacement player, Louis Holmes, in an improper manner. While intended to substitute for an injured defenseman, Holmes ended up playing as a forward during the game. Consequently, the league deemed it necessary for the game to be replayed. Disagreeing with this decision, Portland chose to forfeit the entire series.
