Clinton Comets Statistics and History [Ind]
The Clinton Comets were an independent senior hockey team playing from at least 1947 to 1951. The team played in the Clinton Arena. During this era the Comets played other senior teams, primarily from Ontario, such as the Cornwall Dukes and Renfrew Lions. They also played local college teams such as Williams College or Hamilton College.
The independent-era Comets relied on players who resided in the upstate New York area. Most of the players were born in the USA, and many were ex-college players from Colgate, Hamilton, or St. Lawrence colleges. They gravitated to the Comets due to the team's high reputation and their challenging international schedule.
Following the 1950-51 season the Comets entered the New York/Ontario Hockey League, a senior league primarily based in Canada.
