Regina/Brandon Regals Statistics and History
The Regina Regals were a minor professional hockey team playing in Regina, Saskatchewan, members of the Western Hockey League during the 1955-56 season. They were a new franchise in the WHL that season and were owned by Jim Piggott of Saskatoon.
Starting on December 17, 1955, mainly due to attendance issues in Regina, the Regals started playing their home games in Brandon, Manitoba. In 14 games at Regina, the team averaged just 816 fans per game.
At a game on January 1, 1956, the Regals started the third period wearing Brandon jerseys. They officially announced that they would finish the season in that city on January 4, 1956. The Regals played one more year in Brandon before they went on to become the Saskatoon Regals / St. Paul Saints forthe 1957-58 season.
