The database will be updated weekly with a player's statistics if he is playing in one of the major North American Leagues. I will not update Canadian Junior/NCAA stats because there is no good central repository of that data. European data is even harder to find, so that will not be updated either. For current rosters by team, try these links: AHL, IHL, ECHL, CHL, UHL, WCHL, WPHL.
Yes, the goalie stats are being slowly filled in. Unfortunately I still need to type in over 60% of the goalie stats that are out there.
I am within the process of adding playoff stats. I have most recent major leagues completed, and am working on Canadian Juniors and older minor leagues. Remember, NCAA does not separate regular season statistics from playoffs, so that's why those numbers are all blank.
I'm slowly starting to enter the Canadian Junior stats. I'm finding that it is introducing a lot of mistakes to my database, because the record keeping in the Juniors does not seem to be all that great. There are many players whose names are spelled differently from year to year. I will probably fill in stats from 1971-72 on pretty quickly, but it will take me much longer to get the earlier seasons because the data was not published anywhere.
The Canadian Universities do not publish their statistics in any books. Also, there is no standardization between schools and conferences as to which games count toward official statistics. Since I do not have any sources for this information, I cannot present it in the database.
In the old days, when a player was traded mid-season, they didn't record how many games he played with each team, or his separate stats. Although I do track this information in my personal database, I haven't figured out a good way to get it into the Internet database yet.
Also, prior to WW II, most leagues didn't track the games each player played. Fortunately the box scores back then listed the complete rosters, so the information is not permanently lost, but it has to be re-compiled, which takes a lot of time and effort.
Mistakes happen. I have hundreds of thousands of entries in my database. There are a lot of opportunities for error. If you think I have a mistake, e-mail me and let me know.
I'm sorry, but I'm not a trivia expert. Try Liam Maguire's Hockey Trivia page for trivia questions.
I don't believe in pirating logos from the internet. Most current teams have sites on the internet, and a lot of people e-mail me logos from these sites. I will not put them in the archive unless a representative from the team or website mails me the logo. Additionally, the quality of the image has to be up to standards -- I try and present the highest quality logo scans on the internet, and only use poor scans if nothing else exists.
I get most of my logos from team programs, so if you'd like the logo of your team in the archive, offer to trade me a game program (I'll trade you a Springfield Falcons program) that has a logo in it. It's the easiest way for me to get the logo up there.
Many older game programs only featured their logos in black and white. Since I don't have a color source for these logos, I can only present what I have available
The early NHL logos were most likely pirated from the Hockey News CD-ROM published circa 1995. Since I don't pirate logos from other electronic sources, I won't use those logos in my database
No, I didn't get permission to use the logos. Many of the teams have long since gone out of business and the logos were probably not registered anyways. For more current logos, which most certainly have been trademarked, I'm using the logos under the blanket of "fair use". Since this site archives hockey history, it is for historical purposes.
In any event, if you're the holder of a copyright on any of these logos, and would not like your logo displayed, please e-mail me and upon proof of ownership, I'll take the logo down. Of course, I'll replace the logo with a little note about how uncooperative you were, but that's only fair...
The fact that I have these logos on my site does not make them public domain. The logos remain the property of their respective owners, and the actual files that I have scanned in belong to me. I spend plenty of time scanning each logo, so don't pirate them without asking me first. I'll most likely let you use the logos, just ask! (Can you tell I've caught people pirating my logos, trying to set up sites identical to mine?)
