The Ontario Hockey League was a Minor Professional hockey league that operated from 1930 to 1931. It formed out of the ashes of the Canadian Professional (CanPro) Hockey League which played in 1929-30. Three of the teams (Galt, Guelph, and Kitchener) carried over from that league, and teams from Oshawa, Stratford, and Niagara Falls joined them. Teams in the league served as farm teams for teams in the International Hockey League.
Although the league has been called the Ontario Professional Hockey League, and it was intially supposed to go by that name, when the league was formally formed, it named itself simply the Ontario Hockey League.
