Great Lakes Junior B Hockey League history and statistics

GLJBHL History

The Great Lakes Junior B hockey League was a Canadian Junior B hockey league operating under the auspices of the Ontario Hockey Association. It was geographically based in the area between Lakes Huron and Erie, approximately between Windsor and Sarnia. The league was founded in 1968-69 as the Border Cities Junior Hockey League. Starting with the 1970-71 season, it renamed itself as the Great Lakes Junior B Hockey League.

The league was not completely Junior B - it was made up of a mix of Junior B and Junior C teams. Typically four of the teams were Junior B teams.

Following the 1973-74 season, after two of its four Junior B teams left the league, the league dropped down to Junior C status and continued on as the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League.
