SouthWest Pennsylvania Magic Statistics and History
The SouthWest Pennsylvania Magic was a team that played a single game in the Federal Hockey League in the 2014-15 season. The Magic was based in Belle Vernon, PA, and was supposed to play in the Rostraver Ice Garden. The team was awarded a franchise in the league on April 1, 2014, and participated in the FHL's junior/college draft on June 26, 2014 in which it drafted four college players.
The Magic opened the season on October 17, 2014 against the Berkshire Battalion, playing at Berkshire's rink in North Adams, MA. They lost the game by a score of 10-2. The following day, the Magic announced it would postpone its home opening game. On October 20, the FHL pulled the SWPA Magic's membership from the league, citing a lack of financial commitment by the team. It was replaced with a new franchise, named the Steel City Warriors.
