Vermont Wild Statistics and History
The Vermont Wild were a minor professional hockey team that played in Morrisville, Vermont. They have the distinction of being Vermont's first professional hockey team, playing in the 2011-12 season in the Federal Hockey League. The team was originally going to be known as the Green Mountain Rock Crushers, and were to play at the Ice Haus Arena at the Jay Peak Resort, but they renamed themselves the Wild and moved to Morrisville before the season started. The team was owned by Randall Latona and was managed by Andy Makal.
Due to poor attendance - an average of just 265 fans per game - the Vermont Wild suspended operations on November 23, 2011. A new team, named the Delaware Federals, was created to fill in holes in the FHL schedule. Although the Federals assumed the Wild's record, they were a completely unrelated team.
